"A true hero isn't measured by the size of his strength, but by the size of his heart"
Let's have a look at leaders shall we? I am pleased to say that I have been surrounded by wonderful leaders in my career thus far - one of which truly stands out. He is my current principal and he has helped me in so many ways.
As per the theme of this second journal post - I have decided to name my leader Zeus ;) I hope you enjoy learning about the Zeus figure in my professional life and I hope you find time to thank your own Zeus' out there!

Hi Clarisa,
What a creative and passionate entry outlining the many strengths and (all too familiar) weaknesses of your current principal - a.k.a - Zeus. How wonderful to know that he cares so much about his staff and students and is able to recognize when more support is needed for greater success all around. Having a leader who is not only knowledgeable and experienced, but able to remain cool under pressure is extremely beneficial. No worry of being in the line of fire when tensions are high! Sounds like a great principal to work with especially at this time where meetings are online; short and to the point is my kind of meeting! Having said that, being professional all the time or not always visible can be difficult for a teacher; whether you're a seasoned veteran or newbie. This seems to be a common trait with administrators who took on the position in the transitional time or just post admin being separated from teachers union wise. A lot of these principals are starting to retire in my board so "new blood" and former colleagues are taking on admin roles where being visible and allowing their personality to shine through is more acceptable. Perhaps newer admin were tired of the standoff approach? All of this to say, that I have experienced the same flaw in other principals as well, but I'm also glad to know that he is visible and personable enough that his passion and care comes through in all he does.
Thanks for sharing!

Glad to hear you could see some common characterisitics in Zeus! Interesting you mention about "new blood" and former colleagues stepping into administration roles & yes I agree with these teachers stepping into this new role being able to have their personality shine through. It's a fine line, much like with teaching where you want to be firm but fun!
