The Role V The Goal: A final reflection in leadership

The road to becoming a good leader isn't an easy one... however, it is through personal reflection of skills you didn't know you already had, mixed with strong leader figures in your life is what can and will lead you to situations where the leader in you has no choice but to come out.

Please enjoy my final journal entry, outlining a recent situation where I had to demonstrate some leadership of my own :)

Hey Clarisa,

I was just reading quickly about the mPLAR program yesterday in the midst of some research and wondered whether or not Thomas Merton offered the program. What a coincidence and a very meaningful and beneficial program!
Having to prove a point, stand by and trust your professional judgement is not always an easy task, so well done in regards to Student A outlined in your journal. Thank you for the ever needed reminder of keeping notes and documentation of student learning; I believe this has become easier and more organized with assessments completed online, but the reminder is always helpful. I also really liked your point that leaders, in the case of teachers, truly need to be able to teach new transferable skills. No matter the course, teachers teach students skills, but to be able to teach transferable skills is almost more beneficial.
Finally, I completely agree that taking time to reflect on the skills we have as individual teachers/leaders is really important. Thankfully this course is really giving us the space to set aside time to be introspective and acknowledge our strengths and skills!
Thanks again for sharing - a really interesting read!
